<p> DIED. Ava Gardner, 67, sizzling film goddess; of pneumonia;
in London. Gardner starred in 60 movies, beginning with We Were
Dancing in 1942, and played opposite Clark Gable in Mogambo,
Humphrey Bogart in The Barefoot Contessa, Gregory Peck in On
the Beach and Richard Burton in The Night of the Iguana. Her
sultry beauty, reddish-brown hair and green eyes made her the
box-office equal of Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe, as well
as the tantalizing subject of gossip columns; she was married
to Mickey Rooney, musician Artie Shaw and Frank Sinatra.
